Sheena May Añonuevo-Lopez’ genuine passion for events planning started when she solo-handedly prepared her own debut celebration in May 2003. The experience opened her eyes to the rewarding results brought by meticulous planning. Her resourcefulness, leadership, and multi-tasking skills were developed even further when she headed different college organizations and committees in the University of the Philippines, Diliman where she took up Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science.

Sheena’s journey as a wedding planner started when she got entrusted by a friend to handle the planning and execution of her wedding in 2008. She then formally took up a basic seminar on Effective and Creative Wedding Planning in 2009 and had the privilege to be entrusted with more of her friends’ weddings after. She also did hosting jobs on top of these coordinating tasks. Having exposed herself to this exciting industry, she officially established SMA Weddings and Beyond in December 2010 and opened the business to the public while handling a corporate job as a Sales Coach and Quality Analyst at the same time . It was in 2013 when she finally started to be a fulltime Events Planner as she already established an impressive clientele which was mostly a product of referrals and positive reviews by former clients via word of mouth and online bridal community portals. Since then, it has been a thrilling but fulfilling ride — meeting different client personalities, discovering new ideas, establishing good supplier relationships, and dodging obstacles.

The reputation she has built as a trusted planner in the events industry has led to her being invited to speak in a number of seminars and workshops for new coordinators (e.g., Wedding Planning Masterclass by Cavite Weddings and Equipped Workshop by The Wedding TipSheet). She also received the honor of being awarded as one of the Top 10 Wedding Planners in the Philippines by Events Venue PH.

She treats each client’s event like her own with the full understanding that there are no “take two’s” in executing these. Her team performs tasks that are beyond the usual duties of ordinary wedding planners — their priority has always been to give excellent service not just to their clients but also to those who will share their most special day.
